Can stopping alcohol drinking boost an individual's chances of keeping laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer at bay? Researchers utilized data from 9 studies that focused on the effect of cessation of alcohol intake on the risk of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer.

Researchers found a 15% decrease in the risk of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer among individuals who have stopped taking alcohol for 5 years. Complete avoidance of alcohol may help increase individuals' propensity to fend off cancerous cells and tumor from developing in their pharynx and larynx.
