Alcohol drinking cessation and the risk of laryngeal and pharyngeal cancers: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Elimination of alcohol consumption may help foil the development of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer in men and women.
Can stopping alcohol drinking boost an individual's chances of keeping laryngeal and pharyngeal cancer at bay? Researchers utilized data from 9 studies that focused on the effect of cessation of alcohol intake on the risk of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer.
Researchers found a 15% decrease in the risk of pharyngeal and laryngeal cancer among individuals who have stopped taking alcohol for 5 years. Complete avoidance of alcohol may help increase individuals' propensity to fend off cancerous cells and tumor from developing in their pharynx and larynx.
