Dietary Inflammatory Index and Blood Pressure Levels in Mexican Adults

Following a pro-inflammatory diet may pave way for the development of high blood pressure in men and women.

This study explored the incidence of high blood pressure based on the inflammatory potential of diets. The study population included thousands of Mexicans recruited from the Health Workers Cohort who provided dietary information via questionnaires and their blood pressures were measured regularly.

Researchers found out that frequent intake of pro-inflammatory foods increased blood pressure numbers and risk of hypertension. This study documented that the love for pro-inflammatory foods may give rise to high blood pressure in men and women.
