Association between dietary flavonoid intake and hypertension among U.S. adults
The odds of evading hypertension may favor devout consumers of foods high in flavonoids.
The purpose of this research work was to investigate whether adopting a high flavonoid diet is tied to increased likelihood of staying free from hypertension. Researchers studied the diets of 8,010 US men and women whose blood pressures were monitored regularly throughout the duration of the study.
Researchers discovered that the more flavonoid-containing foods consumed by participants, the better their chances of warding off hypertension. This study identifies flavonoid-rich foods as one of the dietary weapons that can be deployed to combat the development of hypertension in men and women.
