Intake of prebiotic fibers and the risk of laryngeal cancer: the PrebiotiCa study

Habitual intake of foods rich in fiber, particularly prebiotic fiber, may help thwart the development of laryngeal cancer.

This research work explored the theory that a high fiber diet can help offer significant protection against laryngeal cancer. Researchers studied the dietary choices of over 2,000 Italian men and women and estimated each participant's risk of being diagnosed with laryngeal cancer.

Researchers discovered that the more fiber-containing foods, especially those rich in prebiotic fiber, people consumed, the better protection they enjoyed against laryngeal cancer. This study emphasizes the important role high fiber foods play in the prevention of laryngeal cancer.
