Dietary intake of beans and risk of disabling dementia: The Circulatory Risk in Communities Study (CIRCS)

Generous intake of beans may help curb the onset of dementia, particularly in individuals who have never experienced a stroke attack.

This study focused on the whether a trend exists between consistent consumption of beans and diminished risk of dementia in men and women. A total of 670 out of the 3,739 Japanese men and women whose diets were examined had dementia during the course of this study.

Researchers discovered that participants with high intake of beans and without a history of stroke had bright chances of warding off dementia. This study documented that frequent ingestion of beans may be a viable preventive measure for dementia, especially in individuals who have never had a stroke attack.
