Relationships of beans intake with chronic kidney disease in rural adults: A large-scale cross-sectional study

Diets that favor the ingestion of beans may help hinder the development of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

This study explored the connection between eating a high bean diet and the probability of developing chronic kidney disease (CKD). Researchers took a detailed look at the nutritional habits of 2,676 patients diagnosed with CKD, comparing their diets with those of 18,057 healthy individuals.

A 4% reduction in CKD risk was associated with the consumption of extra 50 grams of beans per day. This study affirmed the notion that CKD is less likely to occur among generous consumers of beans.
