Gender-Specific Inverse Associations Between Beans Intake, Serum Urate Levels, and Hyperuricemia: A Cross-Sectional Analysis Based on the Henan Rural Cohort Study

Consuming beans regularly may help reduce blood levels of uric acid and keep hyperuricemia at bay.

This study analyzed the effect of preferential consumption of beans on serum levels of uric acid. Researchers examined the diets and measured the concentrations of uric acid in the blood of nearly 40,000 Chinese men and women.

Researchers observed that frequent eating of beans decreased uric acid levels in the blood, thereby combating the development of hyperuricemia. This study concluded that high dietary ingestion of beans may help to prevent the occurrence of hyperuricemia in men and women.
