Physical activity (PA) influences the risk of depression associated with long working hours

Regular exercise may be beneficial for slashing the risk of depression in individuals working for long hours.

This study investigated the hypothesis that being physically active may reduce the rate of occurrence of depression among individuals who worked for more than 40 hours per week. Data on the incidence of depression, working hours, and intensity of physical activity were obtained from validated questionnaires.

Researchers discovered that the greater the level of physical activity participants engaged in, the less likely they are to experience depression. This study demonstrated that adopting a physically active lifestyle may help ease the burden of depression among individuals who work for long hours.
