Dietary patterns and gastric cancer risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Generous intake of healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, may contribute positively to the prevention of stomach cancer.

The aim of this research work was to examine the effects of different dietary patterns on stomach cancer risk. Researchers reviewed data on nutrition patterns and gastric cancer odds obtained from 16 studies. They found out that high intake of healthy diets rich in fruits and vegetables decreased the likelihood of developing stomach cancer. Conversely, high gastric cancer risk was observed in subjects who frequently consumed western diets high in meat, fats, and starchy foods. The findings of this meta-analysis show that western diets are associated with elevated stomach cancer risk.
