Moderate maternal alcohol consumption and risk of spontaneous abortion.
Regular drinking of alcohol may make abortion more likely to occur in pregnant women.
This study examined alcohol intake in relation to the occurrence of spontaneous abortion in pregnant women. Researchers tracked the rate of alcohol consumption and incidence of spontaneous abortion in a study population comprising of over 5,000 pregnant women.
Researchers discovered that women who drank more than 3 drinks per week faced increased risk of having spontaneous abortion. The results of this study demonstrate that habitual drinking of alcohol may be a factor that contributes to the occurrence of spontaneous abortion in pregnant women.
