Dietary Inflammatory Index and all-cause mortality among asthma patients: a population-based cohort study

Indulgence in pro-inflammatory foods may drive up mortality risk in patients with asthma.

This study hypothesized that choosing a high inflammatory diet can increase mortality risk in asthmatic patients. Researchers tracked the diets and death toll in a study population comprising of 2,805 patients with asthma and 17,768 individuals without the disease.

A high percentage of deaths was recorded among asthmatic patients with high intake of pro-inflammatory foods in this study. Evidence from this study showed that generous consumption of pro-inflammatory foods may contribute to the rising rates of deaths among asthmatic patients.
