Diet-derived circulating antioxidants and risk of epilepsy: A study combining metabolomics and mendelian randomization

Epilepsy is less likely to occur among individuals on diets rich in the antioxidant beta-carotene.

This study ascertained whether high dietary exposure to antioxidants is beneficial for the prevention of epilepsy. Researchers reviewed relevant data and evidence culled from eligible studies.

Researchers noticed that individuals who ate generous amounts of foods filled with the antioxidant beta-carotene had low probability of ending up with epilepsy. This study documented a strong connection between increased ingestion of foods packed with beta-carotene and decreased risk of epilepsy.
