Vegetarianism and ischemic heart disease in older Chinese women.

Strict adherence to vegetarian diet is tied to lower risk of ischemic heart disease in older women.

​This study examined the impact of vegetarian diets on the incidence of ischemic heart disease in older women. Researchers compared the frequency of diagnosis of ischemic heart disease between 90 vegetarians and 90 non-vegetarians. 

Researchers noticed that ischemic heart disease is less likely to occur in vegetarians compared to non-vegetarians. This study suggests that vegetarian diets may help to fend off ischemic heart disease in older women.
