Association between composite dietary antioxidant index and coronary heart disease among US adults: a cross-sectional analysis

Generous consumption of antioxidant-rich foods may help hinder the development of coronary heart disease in men and women.

This study examined the hypothesis linking dietary intake of antioxidants with reduced risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) in men and women. Researchers conducted a meta-analysis on dietary and health records obtained from 34,699 US men and women.

Researchers found out that the likelihood of having coronary heart disease diminished with heightened consumption of foods high in antioxidants. This study demonstrated that diets that encourage the ingestion of antioxidant-rich foods may offer an individual significant protection against coronary heart disease.
