Association of fruit and vegetables with the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer: evidence from a meta-analysis.

Nasopharyngeal cancer is less likely to occur among frequent consumers of fruits and vegetables.

This study investigated the role of high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables in the prevention of nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers systematically reviewed data extracted from 15 published studies. They observed that generous consumption of fruits and vegetables lowered the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer. The results of this meta-analysis support the hypothesis that regular consumption of large servings of fruits and vegetables may protect individuals from nasopharyngeal cancer.
