Non-linear association between composite dietary antioxidant index and depression

Sticking to a high antioxidant diet may help ward off depression in men and women.

This research work investigated the connection between consuming antioxidant-rich foods and the onset of depression. Data on the eating habits and incidence of depression were obtained from validated food frequency questionnaires and hospital records.

Researchers observed that the propensity to suffer from depression was low among high consumers of antioxidant-containing foods. This study provided robust evidence that adequate intake of foods loaded with antioxidants may help reduce an individual's susceptibility to depression.
