High-Polyphenol Fruit and Vegetable Consumption and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Risk Factors Among Adults in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
Cardiovascular disease is less likely to occur in individuals following a diet rich in fruits and vegetables packed with polyphenols.
This study determined the risk of cardiovascular disease associated with the consumption of polyphenols from fruits and vegetables. Researchers tracked the dietary choices of 151 men and women from Saudi Arabia.
Researchers discovered that greater intake of fruits and vegetables high in polyphenols correlated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease. Evidence from this study showed that strict adherence to a diet loaded with fruits and vegetables heavy on polyphenols may help thwart the development of cardiovascular disease in men and women.
