The association of dietary vitamin C intake with periodontitis among Korean adults: Results from KNHANES Ⅳ.

Adequate consumption of foods rich in vitamin C may help to thwart the development of peridontitis.

This study investigated the link between adequate dietary ingestion of vitamin C from food sources and the tendency to develop peridontitis. The study population consisted of 10,930 Korean adults aged 19 years and above who provided dietary information and did not have peridontitis at the beginning of the study.

Researchers discovered that the likelihood of suffering from peridontitis was 1.16 times higher in individuals who ate insufficient amounts of vitamin C-containing foods than in their peers who consumed adequate quantities of these types of foods. This study adds to the existing body of evidence supporting the inclusion of foods rich in vitamin C to our diets for the prevention of peridontitis.
