The association between ultra-processed food intake and age-related hearing loss: a cross-sectional study

Devout consumption of ultra-processed foods may induce hearing loss in middle-aged and older men and men.

This study investigated whether an association exists between indulgence in ultra-processed foods and the development of hearing loss in middle-aged and older adults. Researchers analyzed dietary and health information extracted from a study group comprising of 1,075 US men and women aged 50 years and above.

Researchers discovered that high consumers of ultra-processed foods were nearly 3 times more likely to suffer from hearing loss than their counterparts who ate little or none of these types of foods. The findings of this study showed that generous consumption of ultra-processed foods might result in hearing loss in middle-aged and older men and women.
