Association between composite dietary antioxidant index and kidney stone prevalence in adults: data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES, 2007-2018)

Optimal intake of foods packed with antioxidants may help halt the formation of kidney stones in men and women.

This study clarified the correlation between choosing a high antioxidant diet and the probability of having kidney stones. A total of 2,748 out of the 28,516 participants who provided dietary information for this study had kidney stones over a 10-year period.

Researchers discovered that kidney stones were less likely to be present among consumers of antioxidant-rich foods. This study further strengthened the body of evidence supporting the consumption of antioxidant-containing foods as dietary weapon that can be deployed to thwart the formation of stones in the kidneys.
