The Impact of Excessive Fructose Intake on Adipose Tissue and the Development of Childhood Obesity

Upping the intake of refined foods and beverages packed with fructose may lead to excess weight gain and obesity in children.

Can regular ingestion of refined foods and beverages sweetened with fructose, such as sugar sweetened beverages, promote weight gain and obesity in children? This study was conducted to provide answer to the above question.

After analyzing data and evidence from relevant studies, researchers found out that children fond of consuming fructose-containing foods and beverages tend to pile excess weight and end up with obesity. This study arrived at the conclusion that high dietary intake of refined foods and beverages rich in fructose may be a contributing factor to the rising incidence of childhood obesity globally.
