Association of pro-inflammatory diet with increased risk of gallstone disease: a cross-sectional study of NHANES January 2017-March 2020
Adopting a pro-inflammatory diet may give rise to gallstones in men and women.
This study was undertaken to determine the risk of gallstone disease associated with the consumption of pro-inflammatory foods. Researchers used validated food frequency questionnaires to assess the dietary habits of 7,334 individuals whose health were followed for over a 3-year period.
Researchers noted that the more pro-inflammatory foods participants consumed, the greater their chances of developing gallstone disease. This study threw more light on the role pro-inflammatory diets play in the development of gallstones.
