Fondness for fruits and vegetables may help strengthen the bones and cut down the likelihood of fractures in men and women.
This meta-analysis looked at the effect of dietary choices on bone health in a study population comprising of 225,062 men and women. Data from 13 scientific publications were reviewed for this study.
Researchers noted that the odds of fracturing a bone were low among devout consumers of fruits and vegetables. "There was an association between the increase of at least one serving of fruits and vegetables per day and decreases in the risk of fractures," the study concluded.
