Regular consumption of fruits and vegetables may shield women from breast cancer.
This research work studied the link between habitual intake of fruits and vegetables and the propensity to develop breast cancer. Researchers surveyed more than 180,000 women aged 27-59 years for a duration of 30 years. A total of 10,911 women were diagnosed with breast cancer during the course of the study.
Researchers discovered that women who consumed the most amounts of fruits and vegetables, particularly cruciferous and orange/yellow vegetables, had better chances of fending off breast cancer. The data from this study indicate that high fruit and vegetable diets may offer women significant protection against breast cancer.
