Association between composite dietary antioxidant index and migraine in American young women: insights from NHANES 1999-2004 cross-sectional data

Switching to diets that encourage the consumption of foods loaded with antioxidants may help reduce the incidence of migraine in young and middle-aged women.

​This study ascertained whether an association exists between avid intake of foods rich in antioxidants and the development of migraine in women. Researchers analyzed the dietary preferences of 1,610 US women within the age bracket of 20-50 years with a history of migraine and another 6,527 females without this condition.

Researchers discovered that women fond of eating foods high in antioxidants may have a low propensity to suffer from migraine attacks. This study offered additional insight into the pivotal role dietary ingestion of antioxidants may play in shielding young and middle-aged women from migraine attacks.
