Association between sleep disorders and physical activity in middle-aged Americans: a cross-sectional study from NHANES

Sleep disorders are less likely to occur among physically active middle-aged men and women.

This study examined whether physical activity can reduce an individual's chances of experiencing sleep disorders. The study population consisted of more than 8,000 middle-aged men and women who provided lifestyle and health information throughout the course of the study.

Researchers found a significant decline in the incidence of sleep disorders among participants who consistently engage in physical activity. This study concluded that adopting a physically active lifestyle may help to protect middle-aged men and women against sleep disorders.
