Association Between Ultraprocessed Food Consumption and Risk of Incident CKD: A Prospective Cohort Study
This study quantified the risk of chronic kidney disease (CKD) associated with the intake of ultra-processed foods. Researchers surveyed more than 14,000 men and women over a 24-year period. During the course of the study, 4,859 persons were diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.
Researchers noted that lovers of ultra-processed foods had high tendency to suffer from chronic kidney disease. The findings of this study support the notion that habitual consumption of ultra-processed foods may be a contributing factor to the development of chronic kidney disease.
