Adequate intake of whole grains may help guard against the development of cardiovascular ailments.
This study examined the correlation between whole grain intake and cardiovascular disease risk by meta-analysis. Seven (7) prospective cohort studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed a protective association between whole grain consumption and cardiovascular disease. On the other hand, high dietary intake of refined grains was found to have little or no effect on cardiovascular disease risk. The findings of this meta-analysis indicate that consistent consumption of diets rich in whole grains may decrease an individual’s odds of developing cardiovascular disease.
