Dietary inflammatory index and ovarian cancer risk in a large Italian case-control study

Imbibing the habit of eating proinflammatory diets may increase a woman's likelihood of acquiring ovarian cancer.

This study looked at the relationship between the intake of proinflammatory diets and a woman's probability of suffering from ovarian cancer. Data on the dietary habits and incidence of ovarian cancer among over 3,000 Italian women were obtained from validated food frequency questionnaires and hospital records.

Researchers discovered that habitual ingestion of proinflammatory diets promoted the development of ovarian cancer. Evidence from this study showed that consuming a proinflammatory diet may be a contributing factor to the development of ovarian cancer in women.
