Association of ultra-processed food consumption with colorectal cancer risk among men and women: results from three prospective US cohort studies

Lovers of ultra-processed foods may have a high tendency to develop colorectal cancer.

This study evaluated the role the ingestion of ultra-processed food plays in the development of colorectal cancer. Researchers compared the dietary habits of 3,216 patients with colorectal cancer and 362,939 individuals without the disease.

Researchers noticed a 29% increase in colorectal cancer risk among participants with the highest consumption levels of ultra-processed foods. This study provides solid evidence supporting the colorectal cancer-promoting actions of ultra-processed foods.
