Association of saturated fatty acids with cancer risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Individuals who enjoy consuming foods packed with saturated fatty acids are at risk of developing different forms of cancer, including prostate, breast, and colorectal cancer.

This meta-analysis utilized data from previously published studies that focused on the connection between high dietary ingestion of fatty foods and the odds of having cancer. Up to 55 studies were included in this meta-analysis.

Researchers noted that different cancers, particularly cancer of the breast, prostate, colon, and rectum, were diagnosed frequently among generous consumers of foods rich saturated fatty acids. Evidence from this study further lend credence to the notion that preference for foods heavy on saturated fatty acids may spur the development of several forms of cancer.
