Adopting a healthy plant-based diet may drive down the rate of cognitive decline in African American adults.
This study attempted to answer the question: can a healthy plant-based diet hinder the speed of progression of cognitive decline in adults? Researchers matched dietary preferences with the results of cognition tests of 3,337 Caucasian and African American adults.
Researchers discovered that high compliance with healthy plant-based diets slowed decline in cognitive function, perceptual speed, and episodic memory loss in African Americans, but not among Caucasians. The findings of this study indicate that healthy plant-based eating may help delay cognitive decline in African American adults.
