A decline in the likelihood of suffering from asthenopia is associated with generous consumption of dark-green leafy vegetables regularly.
Asthenopia refers to eye strain or fatigue. This research work looked at the association between high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables and the tendency to suffer from asthenopia. Researchers charted dietary habits against self-reported cases of asthenopia in a study group comprising of 1,022 Chinese college students.
The team of investigators observed that consistent consumption of dark-green leafy vegetables slashed the risk of asthenopia among participants with below optimal eye sight and poor eye care habits. This study highlights the role dark-green leafy vegetables play in keeping asthenopia away from an individual.
