Association Between Instant Coffee Consumption and the Development of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Results From a Community-Based Prospective Cohort

Instant coffee consumption might be a potent risk factor for the development of COPD, especially among heavy smokers.

​This study clarified the role played by devout drinking of instant coffee in the development of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Researchers charted coffee ingestion levels against the presence or absence of COPD in a study population comprising of 6221 men and women. 

Researchers established a strong link between increased intake of instant coffee and the onset of COPD, particularly among heavy smokers. This study pointed out that indulgence in instant coffee may facilitate the development of COPD in men and women.
