Smokers are liable to die from COVID-19 infection.
This study performed a meta-analysis on data obtained from 10 studies that focused on the connection between smoking and the risk of dying from COVID-19 infection. More than 11,000 COVID-19 patients took part in these studies.
Researchers discovered that smokers were about two times more likely to die from COVID-19 infection than non-smokers. This meta-analysis concluded that "smoking, current or past, is associated with higher mortality in COVID-19 patients."
