Maternal coffee intake and the risk of bleeding in early pregnancy: a cross-sectional analysis

Fondness for coffee may raise a woman's risk of suffering from vaginal bleeding early in pregnancy.

This study examined whether coffee drinking is tied to the occurrence of vaginal bleeding in pregnant women. Researchers matched coffee consumption habits with the prevalence of vaginal bleeding among 3,510 pregnant women from Korea.

Researchers noticed that women who drank generous amounts of coffee consistently before and during pregnancy had high tendency to experience vaginal bleeding early in pregnancy. Evidence from this study revealed that habitual drinking of coffee may result in vaginal bleeding in pregnant women.
