Fondness for alcohol may elevate the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
This study examined whether alcohol consumption favors the development of breast cancer in postmenopausal women. The alcohol drinking habits and breast cancer diagnosis status of 51,847 postmenopausal women were obtained through questionnaires and hospital records respectively.
Researchers noticed that alcohol intake increased the rate of occurrence of breast cancer that is sensitive to estrogen in postmenopausal women. The results of this study show that alcohol drinking may be a contributing factor to the development of breast cancer in postmenopausal women.
