This study assessed the correlation between alcohol use and the risk of recurrence and survival among patients with a history of acute cerebral infarction (stroke). Researchers analyzed the lifestyle and medical records of 263 young and middle-aged stroke patients for a period of 12 months.
Researchers observed that patients with high intake of alcohol had poor outcomes and suffered from another stroke attack. This study demonstrated that heavy drinking of alcohol may result in recurrence and worsen the survival rates in stroke patients.
