Association between the dietary inflammatory index and pain in US adults from NHANES

Greater intake of pro-inflammatory foods may trigger the onset of different types of pain, including headache, migraine, and joint pains.

This study looked at the correlation between increased ingestion of pro-inflammatory foods and an individual's likelihood to experience pain. Researchers charted the inflammatory potential of different diets against the occurrence of pain among American men and women recruited from the NHANES cohort.

Researchers observed that pro-inflammatory diet eaters had high propensity to suffer from frequent episodes of headache, migraine, and joint pains. This study arrived at the conclusion that a high inflammatory diet may be a predisposing factor for headache, migraine, and joint pains.
