Association between different composite dietary antioxidant indexes and low back pain in American women adults: a cross-sectional study from NHANES

Low back pain is less likely to affect women who develop the habit of consuming generous portions of foods loaded with antioxidants.

This study aimed to understand the association between frequent intake of antioxidant-rich foods and the occurrence of low back pain. More than 17,000 Americans enrolled for this study and reported the different types of food they ate and symptoms of low back pain using validated questionnaires.

Researchers noticed an appreciable decline in the incidence of low back pain among women at the top of antioxidant food consumption ladder. This study arrived at the conclusion that habitual eating of foods high in antioxidants may reduce a woman's likelihood of suffering from low back pain.
