Regular intake of eggs and other cholesterol-rich foods may put an individual at high risk of developing metabolic syndrome.
This research work studied the dietary cholesterol-metabolic syndrome connection hypothesis. Researchers surveyed the diet and health of 8,241 Chinese men and women from 1991 to 2009. A total of 2,580 cases of metabolic syndrome were identified during the course of the study.
Researchers discovered that metabolic syndrome occurred at a high frequency among habitual consumers of cholesterol-rich foods, such as eggs. The results of this study suggest that fondness for eggs and other cholesterol-containing foods may trigger the onset of metabolic syndrome.
