The tendency of acquiring metabolic syndrome may be high among ardent consumers of sugar-sweetened beverages.
This meta-analysis reviewed the findings of 14 published studies that examined the risk of metabolic syndrome associated with the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs). More than 80,000 men and women from 6 different countries took part in these studies.
Researchers noted that habitual drinking of sugary beverages bumped up the risk of developing metabolic syndrome. This meta-analysis pointed out that lovers of sugar-sweetened beverages may be highly prone to suffer from metabolic syndrome.
