The association of ultra-processed food intake with neurodegenerative disorders: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of large-scale cohorts

Fondness for ultra-processed foods may lead to the development of neurodegenerative diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and cognitive impairment.

This study assessed ultra-processed food intake in relation to the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases by means of a meta-analysis. Researchers sifted through data obtained from a pool of 28 studies.

Researchers observed that high dietary ingestion of ultra-processed foods heightened the risk of developing multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and cognitive impairment. The results of this study showed that the odds of suffering from neurodegenerative diseases may be stacked against lovers of ultra-processed foods.
