Devout consumption of proinflammatory diets may fuel the development of stomach cancer in men and women.
This study analyzed the connection between the inflammatory potential of a diet and the subsequent development of gastric (stomach) cancer. Researchers compared the dietary choices of 230 Italian men and women diagnosed with gastric cancer and 547 individuals free from the disease.
Researchers observed that stomach cancer was more common among participants on proinflammatory diets than in individuals consuming anti-inflammatory foods. This study concluded that high dietary ingestion of proinflammatory foods may lead to the development of gastric cancer.
