Fiber and whole grain intakes in relation to liver cancer risk: An analysis in 2 prospective cohorts and systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective studies

Incorporating whole grains and other foods packed with fiber in our diet can help us fend off liver cancer.

This study hypothesized that greater intake of high fiber foods, such as whole grains, is tied to lesser risk of liver cancer. Researchers utilized dietary information from over 130,000 men and women whose health were followed for a period spanning more than 15 years.

Data analysis revealed that the more whole grains and other fiber-rich foods consumed by participants, the better protected they are against liver cancer. This study identifies fiber-containing foods, such as whole grains, as one of the dietary weapons that can be deployed to help ward off liver cancer.
