Cigarette Smoking and esophageal cancer risk: an evaluation based on a systematic review of epidemiologic evidence among the Japanese population.

Cigarette smokers are highly vulnerable to esophageal cancer.

This research work was carried out to determine the correlation between cigarette smoking and esophageal cancer risk in Japanese men and women by meta-analysis. 4 cohort and 11 case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed that cigarette smokers had higher chances of developing esophageal cancer than non-smokers. The results of this study provide evidence that cigarette smoking may increase the incidence of esophageal cancer in Japanese men and women.
