Besides eating a WFPB diet, what can be done to minimize reflux associated with a hiatal hernia?

Here is another article that will probably be helpful related to this topic:

Thank you for the helpful links. As I am fully whole food, plant-based eating now, I have no issues with constipation or straining. My problem is never associated with "burning" but instead, a post prandial feeling of fullness at the level of my esophageal sphincter. The mechanical nature of the hernia is confirmed by EGD. I am thinking that eating smaller portions and eating more slowly are the only things I can do to attenuate the feeling of pressure on my esophageal sphincter after eating.

Lori,

I think you are really on the right track eating slowly enough to chew your food thoroughly, as well as not overfilling the stomach.

Best Wishes to you as you continue your plant-based journey,

Dr. Carney
