A diet rich in fruit and whole grains is associated with a low risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus: findings from a case-control study in South China

Regular ingestion of fruits and whole grains may help hinder the development of type 2 diabetes.

​This study provided insight into the role diets rich in fruits and whole grains play in the prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Researchers analyzed the dietary habits of 384 patients with type 2 diabetes and 768 individuals without the disease. 

Researchers found a reduced prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus among habitual eaters of fruits and whole grains. The results of this study showed that individuals interested in lowering their risk of type 2 diabetes should imbibe the habit of consuming fruits and whole grains.
